In The Beginning

Established by Jeremy Lee James, in June of 2009, Write Click Hosting is a relatively recent addition to the Write Click Media family of web services.

Initially we focused on private web hosting for small businesses and organizations served by the Write Click Media brand.

However, as an aspiring novelist and proud bootstrapped business owner, our founder also wanted to find a way to cater to authors and indie-creatives who couldn’t afford the $5,000 – $30,000 dollar investment typically required for the business-scale content management systems and websites our parent company specializes in.

It Wouldn’t Be Easy

Many others have tried to serve this niche, and many others have failed.

While cheap or so-called “free” blogging services do exist, they all suffer from one or more fatal flaws:

  • They feature an ad-supported revenue model, which means their user base is actually the product being sold to advertisers.
  • They are a proprietary service which means their customers don’t really own their content, design, or data.
  • They severely limit the ability to customize your site, deny access to 3rd party scripts and themes, and restrict functionality to a mere subset of what constitutes the cutting edge.
  • They charge a hefty percentage of your sales for the “priviledge” of installing a shopping cart.

We were determined to provide a solution that avoided these compromises, while empowering customers with a beautiful, easy-to-use, and affordable website–flexible and powerful enough to grow with you as your platform, reach, and fan-base expands.

It took a solid year of coding, designing, and partnering with industry leading providers, but in September of 2010, version 1.0 of the Word(slinger)Press Website + Hosting Package For Writers met the challenge.

Fast forward another year, and now we’re proud to be releasing newly revamped packages, brand new add-ons, and additional service offerings to a growing roster of creative clients leveraging our tools and striving to make a dent in the universe.

And we’re only getting started!
